I heard the Spirit say, “Spiritual Eagles are rising against the spiritual resistance.” God is bringing a “gathering of eagles” from multi-denominational and other streams together to rise up in apostolic prophetic authority! Walls of tradition, religious order, racier barriers and other barriers are falling!
These “spiritual eagles” will not be limited by barriers of resistance however they will be empowered to “mount up with wings” to soar above the resistance and bring the healing and glory of God to Nations!
Learning “Spiritual Resistance” from the Eagle
In the summer of 1992, I took a trip down the Rogue River rapids in Oregon, and there saw a bald eagle. While I watched, the eagle swooped down and caught in its talons a fish from the river. It landed momentarily on a nearby rock, and soon took flight. It spent all of its strength, everything it had, flapping its wings, but only skimmed over the surface of the water for about 200 yards. Why? Because the eagle was trying to break the law of gravity. Eventually, it was able to soar up into the sky.
The eagle beats its wings with everything it has just to break from the law of gravity. But once the eagle finds a wind current—a huge current of hot air that spirals up into the sky for miles—it can spread its wings, stretch its wingtip feathers, and catch the current. The wind will cause a spiraling downdraft on each feather and will create a cushion that the eagle can float on effortlessly for hours. The eagle can see even with his eyes shut. In addition to his normal pair of eyelids the eagle has a set of clear eyelids called nictitating membranes. These eyelids can be closed for protection from the wind, hungry eaglets, or the violence of a kill without affecting the eagle’s vision.
When we are fighting principalities, powers, and ungodly, wicked spirits in this world we can protect our vision by keeping a heart sensitive to God through prayer, fasting and staying in His Word. We must harden our outer-skin like an alligator’s, but leave our hearts tender and sensitive. Satan’s darts will harmlessly bounce off us. God’s Word must be our balance and our love for God and people must be our motive for reaching souls. We must protect our vision. We must not grow weary in well doing.
The eagle is different from any other bird in its reaction to a storm. When a storm comes up, other birds seek shelter, but the eagle, because of his strength and the distinctive abilities God has given to him, flies straight into the storm, rising above the turbulent winds to a calmer atmosphere. Pilots have clocked eagles flying in a thunderstorm at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour!
Spiritual Resistance Leads to Breakthrough
Breaking through into the spirit realm at first may seem very difficult, very tough. Fasting will be such a struggle because you are beating your spiritual wings with everything you have. Just keep beating and just keep fasting and exercising your spiritual muscles. Suddenly the time will come when you will break through and find the current of His Spirit wherein is rest and strength and where you can trust Him and follow the leading of His Spirit until the next battle comes.
2 Corinthians 4:17 says, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” The struggle of one day of fasting pales in comparison to the benefits that we receive in destroying the works of the flesh and submitting ourselves to the law and direction of the Spirit.
1 Corinthians 10:13 tells us, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way of escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
When we are up against spiritual resistance, we can choose the way of fasting to break through. When we know we have heard from God and we are in His will, we can remain steadfast. When we are in the perfect will of God, we can know that the Lord will answer us speedily, even if it seems like everything isn’t going just right.
Many times we will experience severe resistance just before we find the perfect will of God or receive our breakthrough. In Acts 16:6-10, Paul desired to go to the region of Galatia, but was forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the Word of God in Asia. He then sought to go to Bithynia but the Spirit told him not to. Then he had a vision in which the man from Macedonia appeared and said, “Come over and help us.” The vision gave him the assurance that it was the will of God for him to go to Macedonia.
The Macedonia vision is being repeated as God is bringing new Divine Networks and Divine Alignments and Open Doors that bring Open Heavens!
