Ever since I can remember, the prophetic ministry has been something that I have greatly loved and cherished. In fact, as a child growing up in the Church, I would get excited when I heard that a prophet or a prophetic evangelist was coming to town for a special set of meetings. It meant there was a possibility God may speak a word to them just for me. It was always so fascinating to watch God touch people through the gift of prophecy and see the Spirit move with such pin-point accuracy concerning someone’s situation.
From an early age, I greatly admired the prophets and those who operated in the prophetic, and as I entered into my early twenties, I would often ask God to give me prophetic words for people because I knew that if God spoke to someone on a personal level, a word that would edify and comfort them, that it could alter their future and set them on a course of God-given destiny.
I believed this so much that when God led Brynn (my wife) and I to form a ministry, the name “Destiny Encounters” seemed so right for what we believed God to do in the lives of everyone we would come in contact with. Prophecy is a sure way for anyone to have destiny encounters and see their whole world altered.
The Spirit of Prophecy
The book of Revelation speaks expressly of the testimony of Jesus and is a central theme of its writing and later in the book, it defines the testimony as a manifestation of the Spirit of Prophecy. The angel told John, “…For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy”(Revelation 19:10). In other words, the testimony of Jesus is the manifestation of the living Word and becomes anything that is spoken or written about that God has ever done. (Photo via GraphicStock)
The Spirit of Prophecy is the realm of the anointing that becomes prophetic in its manifestations and because prophecy will either tell of a future event or it will change an event immediately when it manifests, a previous testimony can become prophetic in nature and carries the ability to change other events.
The word testimony in the Hebrew comes from a root word uwd, which means todo it again. So the Spirit of Prophecy becomes the realm where God repeatedly does His Word over and over again. While we understand that the gifts flow from the Holy Spirit, we also recognize that the Holy Spirit is a person with a nature and has a personality with many intricate layers. One of those layers is prophecy.
Like many visions and dreams, the Holy Spirit will manifest in different forms. An example within Scripture would be when John the Baptist, while in a vision, saw the Holy Spirit descend in the form of a dove upon Jesus during His baptism. This was the spiritual visual language that God wanted to portray to John of the nature of the Holy Spirit upon Jesus.
Dreams and Night Visions
This is a very interesting part of the prophetic ministry that has intrigued me so much over the years: the avenue of dreams and night visions. I’ve studied them in the Bible as well as dug deeply into the mystery language of dreams and deciphering the hidden codes and symbols that God speaks through them. (Photo via GraphicStock)
Early Thursday morning, as I was in and out of sleep, I fell into what Old Testament Prophets would often term as a “night vision”. In this night vision I was in a rather large gathering place in Heaven with many great prophetic leaders from around the world. It was a gathering for those who were hungry to step into the deeper things of the prophetic. It was by invitation only and I was excited to have been invited to such an event.
As I sat in my seat, I was pondering on the possibility of receiving something fresh, maybe even a new prophetic mantle that God had for me. As the meeting progressed I could feel something was about to shift, and suddenly there stood the Spirit of Prophecy, and He was center stage. I had always imagined Him to have been a very serious fellow.
After all, the Old Testament is filled with somber stories of prophets and their sobering prophetic words to a people and nations. Almost everyone has had an experience with that person in their local church who believes themselves to be “John the Baptist” in the twenty first century, but kidding aside, I had envisioned this Spirit to be very intense. Yet this Person was one of the most loving, caring, funny personalities I have ever met.
Slightly heavyset with a beard and blue eyes, this being seemed to be one of the jolliest individuals in Heaven. As He (the Holy Spirit) stood on stage He smiled at me and called me forward. I believed that He was going to have me prophesy with Him, but instead He called me aside and handed me several, small cardboard boxes and said, “Throw these at the people.” I did immediately as I was commanded.
When I threw the boxes, as they hit people, the box would burst with gold and silver change (US currency or coins) and the people would transform with the glory released all around them. Suddenly, I was back in my bed and the vision was over.
New Currency From Heaven
This is what I believe the Lord is saying to the Church right now: There is a new currency that Heaven is giving to those who would stand hand-in-hand with the Spirit of Prophecy. The currency is called “change”. I believe God is offering us a place to stand with Him, where our words carry such value in the spirit that whatever they touch will bring change instantly. There is a fresh offering being exchanged in Heaven for us with the Spirit of Prophecy that is going to shatter many people’s boxes concerning the prophetic and its ability to create sustainable change in the earth. This change is powerful enough to affect earthly governments and secular societies.
I saw a prophetic currency coming that not only had a pin-point accuracy on a level we have never seen before, but a new level of “transformational power” that causes anyone who comes in contact with it to be radically altered for life, instantly.
I believe this coming Yom Kippur (October 11-12) is going to mark something significant in the spirit realm. There is a coming exchange from the way we have always done it to the way Heaven sees it. I believe there is an altar (platform) that God is calling us to step onto that will alter the course of history for so many.
I want to encourage the Body of Christ to set some time aside to truly seek God’s face, especially on October 11-12. Let us step corporately onto this platform of the prophetic we’ve been given and begin to create the transformation and change that is so desperately needed in this pivotal time.
Charles and Brynn Shamp are the founders of Destiny Encounters. They have a true passion for revival and the glory of God. They boldly declare the Gospel of Christ, ministering freedom, joy, and supernatural healing everywhere they go. They have ministered both nationally and internationally (with such ministers as Jeff Jansen, Munday Martin, Joshua Mills, Mahesh Chavda, Bob and Bonnie Jones) with radical demonstrations of faith, seeing lives transformed through the power of the Holy Spirit. Compelled by the heart of the Father to seek and save the lost, they are releasing God’s love to the world seeing the captives delivered, the sick healed, and lives changed. Charles and Brynn believe that through outreach, missions, and crusade evangelism, one life changed can impact a nation and transform a generation. Charles and Brynn have answered the call to lead a generation in the movement of both the Word and the Spirit. With the power of an encounter they are truly unlocking a generation’s destiny one heart at a time.
